Describe Your Style: KAMENSKAKONONOVA

KAMENSKAKONONOVA

KAMENSKAKONONOVA is a women’s wear and accessories brand founded by designers Natalia Kamenska and Olesya Kononova, based in Kiev, Ukraine. KAMENSKAKONONOVA introduced its first collection in 2008, in 2010 the brand launched its first shoe collection. In March 2013 the first capsule collection of children’s clothing named “ko.ka.ko by KAMENSKAKONONOVA” was presented.
Natalia Kamenska and Olesya Kononova design for contemporary urban woman with a big-city mind. Not because she indispensably lives in a big city but because she has that type of lifestyle when she travels a lot, has inner freedom and is keen on art, architecture, and history. However despite her active character and the rush of modern world this woman appreciates her inner harmony. She values the essence of things and her own essence primarily.

Designers’ style:

Combination of minimalism and complex constructions;

Reconsideration of classic feminine silhouette;

Search for new shapes;

Purity, geometry, little accessory;

Liberty and lightness.

KAMENSKAKONONOVA brand was titled «Best Women’s Clothing Designer» and «Best Accessories Designer» in Ukraine – two prizes of BEST FASHION AWARDS 2012, the Ukrainian Awards in the field of fashion, and «Best Accessories Designer» in Ukraine by BEST FASHION AWARDS 2013.

KAMENSKAKONONOVA design could be retraced to the concord of nature, solitude, asceticism and attributes of modern world – high-tech architecture, the beats of big cities, new technologies. Designers are devoted to an urban colour scale – palettes of black, grey, dark and dusty blue, dusty rose and white.

KAMENSKAKONONOVA is defined by its emphasis on tailoring, craftsmanship and attention to detail. One tailor sews every piece individually from the beginning to the end; artisanal seams and finishes are quite common. Many clothes are unique or produced in limited series. All wear is manufactured in Ukraine.

KAMENSKAKONONOVA was featured on Vogue.it like “Our Choice: BEST PROJECT”. And in September 2013 KAMENSKAKONONOVA will be a part of issue “Vogue Talents” – Vogue Italy talents annual addition.

KAMENSKAKONONOVA collections are shot in Vogue.it (Vogue for the Young, Blog from), Vogue Ukraine, Collezioni Italia, Close-Up Italia, Institute magazine, ELLE Russia, ELLE Ukraine, ELLE Polska, Glamour Russia, InStyle Russia, Harper’s Bazaar Ukraine, Marie Claire Ukraine, Cosmopolitan Ukraine, http://www.lookatme.ru/, http://buro247.com.ua/, http://vogue.ua/, http://elle.ua/

My love affair with fashion started at the age of 15. Although I never went to school for fashion, I’ve always had this gift of being able to understand future fashion trends and forecasts. At an early age, I developed the habit of playing in my closet and developing characters and story lines through the wardrobe. I became obsessed with what the celebrities wore on the red carpet. I found the glamour to be very addictive.
When it comes to my personal style, I can honestly say, “I’m still that little girl playing in my closet.” My style is very eccentric. It’s playful, fun, colorful, innovative, flamboyant, and very unpredictable. I don’t believe in following rules when it pertains to fashion or my style for that matter. I find creative freedom in being able to create my own trends and wear whatever I feel like wearing on that specific day. It all depends on my mood at that moment in time.
I love playing with color and texture when it comes to my wardrobe. As my style has developed, I’ve found that color makes me happy; it has the ability to change my energy and mood. On another note, I would say my style is innovative due to the fact that I love pushing the boundaries. I always style from the concept of “think outside the box.” There’s absolutely no limit to what you can create.
I’m an independent fashion stylist based out of Los Angeles. My area of expertise is celebrity, editorial/print, television, high fashion, Avant-garde, couture, and red carpet. My styling work has been featured in editorials for 944 magazine, Tight Rope Magazine, Smooth Magazine, and MNM Couture. In addition, I’ve styled for one of the most prestigious awards in the beauty industry; the North American Hair awards.
My proudest moment to date as a wardrobe stylist has been seeing my name in the credits for my work with the television series HBO Entourage. I’ve been blessed to work with some amazing industry professionals; however my collaboration with Celebrity Designers Michael Costello and Mondo Guerra still makes me smile to this day. Two of my favorite designers from the television show Project Runway who I rooted for from my living room. Being backstage with them and having the opportunity to style their runway show was beyond inspiring.
At the current moment, I’m working on accomplishing two major goals that I have every intention of fulfilling. One of them being getting agency representation as a wardrobe stylist and the other is making that transition from Fashion Stylist to Fashion Designer. I’m very excited about the future. My goal is to continue to challenge myself by pushing the boundaries, produce strong work that will inspire the world, and constantly evolve as an artist. The best is yet to come.

Creator of Describe Your Style: Scarf Movement

Inspiration can be found anywhere and everywhere from the smallest act of kindness to photographs in magazines. Inspired by a fashion post by my lovely friend Oscar, I wanted to do my own interpretation through photos shot by Photographer Samantha Peck. We found the perfect location which were surrounded by breathtaking pecan orchards and the WIND helped create flowy scarfs movement throughout the photoshoot. This inspired me to call this series “Scarf Movement.”

Describe Your Style: Jewelry Designer Mitali Doshi

1

Jewelry designer Mitali Doshi’s line “AnMidO – All that’s BEAutiful !!!” is created with the sole intention of allowing customers to maintain their individual personality, and stand out in the crowd through her mildly adventurous designs. Mitali loves jewelry, and fashion in general, but did not like how she saw her own favorite pieces from retail stores on other people around her. “I want to feel beautiful when I wear eye catching jewelry, but I also want to be the only proud owner of that piece”, she felt.

Mitali’s collections are influenced by the diversity of the people she comes across every day; their cultures, their beliefs, the traditions and lifestyles. Her passion for creativity and detail can be seen in her intricately self-crafted jewelry pieces. Mitali believes in fusing a large gamut of colors to flow like a stream, just like a rainbow. Hand-picking her raw materials, she uses a wide variety ranging from natural stones, to gems, to semi-precious and gold plated pieces. Mitali’s process is simple – she creates what feels right.

You will be able to personally view AnMidO’s latest designs in May, 2013 in a Fashion event organized by a New Jersey-based online boutique (Sense of Style Boutique: https://www.facebook.com/events/427711917308135). Also, this year AnMidO will be one of the Vendors at the Connecticut Fashion Week in September. In the past, she was chosen “Designer of the Month” by New York-based fashion organization JUST OFF 7th AVE for their website launch in the month Jan 2012. In June 2012, AnMidO was also a part of a multi-designer fashion show at Amnesia, NYC along with international award winning designers. Mitali and her brand have been featured a few times in Boston-based fashion blog “The Fashion Hub”. Later last year, AnMidO creations were chosen for an exclusive photo-shoot alongside apparel designer Jennifer Chen for the launch of her new collection (Oct 2012).

Describe Your Style: Model Nikki Giovanni

2

I began modeling at the young age of nine.
I always loved performing and being in the spotlight. Modeling keeps me very busy on a day to day basis, but I can’t complain because I have been blessed in the fact that I get paid to do something that I absolutely love and have a strong passion for.

As a model, I have been able to accomplish many things that I could have never even dreamt of.
I have been featured in numerous music videos for major artists, I have appeared in numerous magazines and magazine covers, and I have also made appearances on television.

That’s not all though. I recently filmed a reality pilot for a new tv show and I have started working with my management company in a recording studio where I am beginning to lay down the vocals for songs I have written. Modeling has given me the opportunity to gain a ton of exposure which has opened many doors for me and my career.

My style is very “free“. To be honest, I don’t really follow the “latest trends” and all of that. I just wear what I feel like wearing and I am very creative when it comes to style.

Describe Your Style: Endless Couture

21

I would describe my personal style as a girlish tomboy. I like to mix printed button down tops with a real feminine necklace or accessory. All of my accessories are from Endless Couture which I co-own. We make a lot of big, bold, and bright designs which allow me to wear a plain outfit if I want and still stand out. I would say my greatest accomplishment was finding the courage to start a company and believing that it can be successful.

Describe Your Style: Makeup Artist Viktorija Bowers

93

http://www.viktorijabowers.com

My name is Viktorija Bowers, I am NYC based make up artist. I was born and raised in the little city on Croatian/Dalmatian coast that is famous for it’s pirate history, so that, and being Slavic sets tone to my taste and my make up style. DRAMATIC and DARK.
I got my start thanks to MAC cosmetics where I fit prefectly with my goth brothers and sisters and were able to hone in my signature style and venture on my own eventually. I love transforming the face with colors and textures, but regardless of how much or how little make up I put, I never forget face before me. I don’t do paint by number looks, I study the face very carefully, and decide to customize make up to the person, opposed to face to make up. I think that comes from the fact that I am painter as well (I use my married name as my painter persona), and my favorite subject to paint are (guess what) faces LOL.

76

I blend my dark esthetic with fairytale elements to create works, both on canvas and face and sometimes two meet together in the same project (I would use watercolor tehnique to apply eyeshadow for example).
This background lands itself to me being hired a lot for beauty project, as painterly precision is needed for close ups. I truly truly LOVE MY JOB!!!
