Creator of Describe Your Style: Scarf Movement

Inspiration can be found anywhere and everywhere from the smallest act of kindness to photographs in magazines. Inspired by a fashion post by my lovely friend Oscar, I wanted to do my own interpretation through photos shot by Photographer Samantha Peck. We found the perfect location which were surrounded by breathtaking pecan orchards and the WIND helped create flowy scarfs movement throughout the photoshoot. This inspired me to call this series “Scarf Movement.”

Describe Your Style: Jewelry Designer Mitali Doshi

1

Jewelry designer Mitali Doshi’s line “AnMidO – All that’s BEAutiful !!!” is created with the sole intention of allowing customers to maintain their individual personality, and stand out in the crowd through her mildly adventurous designs. Mitali loves jewelry, and fashion in general, but did not like how she saw her own favorite pieces from retail stores on other people around her. “I want to feel beautiful when I wear eye catching jewelry, but I also want to be the only proud owner of that piece”, she felt.

Mitali’s collections are influenced by the diversity of the people she comes across every day; their cultures, their beliefs, the traditions and lifestyles. Her passion for creativity and detail can be seen in her intricately self-crafted jewelry pieces. Mitali believes in fusing a large gamut of colors to flow like a stream, just like a rainbow. Hand-picking her raw materials, she uses a wide variety ranging from natural stones, to gems, to semi-precious and gold plated pieces. Mitali’s process is simple – she creates what feels right.

You will be able to personally view AnMidO’s latest designs in May, 2013 in a Fashion event organized by a New Jersey-based online boutique (Sense of Style Boutique: https://www.facebook.com/events/427711917308135). Also, this year AnMidO will be one of the Vendors at the Connecticut Fashion Week in September. In the past, she was chosen “Designer of the Month” by New York-based fashion organization JUST OFF 7th AVE for their website launch in the month Jan 2012. In June 2012, AnMidO was also a part of a multi-designer fashion show at Amnesia, NYC along with international award winning designers. Mitali and her brand have been featured a few times in Boston-based fashion blog “The Fashion Hub”. Later last year, AnMidO creations were chosen for an exclusive photo-shoot alongside apparel designer Jennifer Chen for the launch of her new collection (Oct 2012).

Describe Your Style: Model Nikki Giovanni

2

I began modeling at the young age of nine.
I always loved performing and being in the spotlight. Modeling keeps me very busy on a day to day basis, but I can’t complain because I have been blessed in the fact that I get paid to do something that I absolutely love and have a strong passion for.

As a model, I have been able to accomplish many things that I could have never even dreamt of.
I have been featured in numerous music videos for major artists, I have appeared in numerous magazines and magazine covers, and I have also made appearances on television.

That’s not all though. I recently filmed a reality pilot for a new tv show and I have started working with my management company in a recording studio where I am beginning to lay down the vocals for songs I have written. Modeling has given me the opportunity to gain a ton of exposure which has opened many doors for me and my career.

My style is very “free“. To be honest, I don’t really follow the “latest trends” and all of that. I just wear what I feel like wearing and I am very creative when it comes to style.

Describe Your Style: Endless Couture

21

I would describe my personal style as a girlish tomboy. I like to mix printed button down tops with a real feminine necklace or accessory. All of my accessories are from Endless Couture which I co-own. We make a lot of big, bold, and bright designs which allow me to wear a plain outfit if I want and still stand out. I would say my greatest accomplishment was finding the courage to start a company and believing that it can be successful.

Describe Your Style: Makeup Artist Viktorija Bowers

http://www.viktorijabowers.com

My name is Viktorija Bowers, I am NYC based make up artist. I was born and raised in the little city on Croatian/Dalmatian coast that is famous for it’s pirate history, so that, and being Slavic sets tone to my taste and my make up style. DRAMATIC and DARK.
I got my start thanks to MAC cosmetics where I fit prefectly with my goth brothers and sisters and were able to hone in my signature style and venture on my own eventually. I love transforming the face with colors and textures, but regardless of how much or how little make up I put, I never forget face before me. I don’t do paint by number looks, I study the face very carefully, and decide to customize make up to the person, opposed to face to make up. I think that comes from the fact that I am painter as well (I use my married name as my painter persona), and my favorite subject to paint are (guess what) faces LOL.

I blend my dark esthetic with fairytale elements to create works, both on canvas and face and sometimes two meet together in the same project (I would use watercolor tehnique to apply eyeshadow for example).
This background lands itself to me being hired a lot for beauty project, as painterly precision is needed for close ups. I truly truly LOVE MY JOB!!!

I’ve been styling since graduating from University, so two years now. I absolutely love what I do, but
its so competitive you have to be determined and patient! What I love to do is
style feminine, edgy shoots. Something different is always fun but my favourite shoots are the
more simple shoots where the clothing/accessories can do all the talking!
I style a lot of editorials and designers look books but my most
recent project is starting a new print magazine, Exalt.2

“My photography style is very fashion based. Whether I am shooting models, weddings, or kids
I am always focusing on the fashion sense of the image. I also am always
up for trying new and different things that might seem odd or different, but always
turn out well. I also love black and white photography, and I would
strictly work in black and white if I could.”2pic

Describe Your Style: Fashion Stylist Jessica Hunter

I would have to say that developing signature style is my trademark. Rather than helping people focus on what is in, current and on trend I take that a step further and help individuals and companies break free from the idea of rules to create a look that is uniquely their own. I am inspired by people like YSL, Kate Moss, Tamara Mellon, and Blake Lively. These fashion icons do not follow trends, they create them.

I started my fashion career in boutique sales working for Jimmy Choo and then eventually Salvatore Ferragamo, however I felt like I wasn’t really pushing myself. I visited my brother and his girlfriend in September 2011 during New York Fashion Week and caught one glimpse of the tents at Lincoln Center and I was hooked. The second I got to an internet connection I got on the the MBFW Website and applied to volunteer.

Three seasons in I have had the fortune of moving up to a Venue Captain for shows in the main theater including Rebecca Minkoff, Monique Lhullier, and Marc by Marc Jacobs. Given that I am new to this industry I have really made an effort to branching out and trying my hand different areas of the industry including styling photo-shoots, collaborating with designers to conduct fittings, dressing models, and actual show production.

Currently I work independently as a Fashion Stylist, you can see my published work in Zephyr Magazine, Fashion Faces Magazine, and Eloise Magazine. To see my portfolio please visit my Facebook Page Chic and Disheveled. As I said before Kate Moss is a huge fashion icon personally, but I am not alone. The world adores her. One of the things that inspires me most is that she never looks perfect. There is always something slightly askew or…disheveled about her. Whether it be she is in a perfectly polished look with her hair a-mess, or she is decked out in grunge but her make-up is flawless. There is always an element that make it her, and that is what fashion is all about. Taking it and making it your own!

Describe Your “STYLUSH” Style?
I feel like my biggest accessory is my 3 quarter sleeve tattoo. Looking back at when I got it I was way over the top funky with a crazy Rod Stewart hair style with platinum blonde locks. Obviously I was trying a little too hard. These days I dress edgy but still keep it professional. I’ve toned down a tad but only to draw the type of clientele that I want as well as be approachable for my many entrepreneurship’s. I pair a lot of my looks with skirts and biker boots or vintage t’s with Maxi’s. I don’t really have a set style, I just wear what I like and feel comfortable in. My accomplishments in the the fashion field has really varied. I continue my education in the hairdressing industry on a monthly basis, as I feel like your hair is one of your biggest fashion accesory it says alot about a women. My work has been published in Magazines such as 944, LifeStyles, So Scottsdale,Dark beauty, Dwell, seen on the runway at Scottsdale Fashion Week, Phoenix Fashion Week, Scottsdale Wedding walk , along with numerous downtown first Friday art events. My work have also been seen on TLC, NBC, FOX 10,Channel 3 TV.
