Describe Your Style: Jewelry Designer Mitali Doshi

1

Jewelry designer Mitali Doshi’s line “AnMidO – All that’s BEAutiful !!!” is created with the sole intention of allowing customers to maintain their individual personality, and stand out in the crowd through her mildly adventurous designs. Mitali loves jewelry, and fashion in general, but did not like how she saw her own favorite pieces from retail stores on other people around her. “I want to feel beautiful when I wear eye catching jewelry, but I also want to be the only proud owner of that piece”, she felt.

Mitali’s collections are influenced by the diversity of the people she comes across every day; their cultures, their beliefs, the traditions and lifestyles. Her passion for creativity and detail can be seen in her intricately self-crafted jewelry pieces. Mitali believes in fusing a large gamut of colors to flow like a stream, just like a rainbow. Hand-picking her raw materials, she uses a wide variety ranging from natural stones, to gems, to semi-precious and gold plated pieces. Mitali’s process is simple – she creates what feels right.

You will be able to personally view AnMidO’s latest designs in May, 2013 in a Fashion event organized by a New Jersey-based online boutique (Sense of Style Boutique: https://www.facebook.com/events/427711917308135). Also, this year AnMidO will be one of the Vendors at the Connecticut Fashion Week in September. In the past, she was chosen “Designer of the Month” by New York-based fashion organization JUST OFF 7th AVE for their website launch in the month Jan 2012. In June 2012, AnMidO was also a part of a multi-designer fashion show at Amnesia, NYC along with international award winning designers. Mitali and her brand have been featured a few times in Boston-based fashion blog “The Fashion Hub”. Later last year, AnMidO creations were chosen for an exclusive photo-shoot alongside apparel designer Jennifer Chen for the launch of her new collection (Oct 2012).

Describe Your Style: Endless Couture

21

I would describe my personal style as a girlish tomboy. I like to mix printed button down tops with a real feminine necklace or accessory. All of my accessories are from Endless Couture which I co-own. We make a lot of big, bold, and bright designs which allow me to wear a plain outfit if I want and still stand out. I would say my greatest accomplishment was finding the courage to start a company and believing that it can be successful.

Jewelry Designer Ilenia Corti

Ilenia Corti created Vernissage in late 2007 in collaboration with Matteo Mena. The two shoes and accessories designers started working on this new project sharing their fantastic worlds in an uncontaminated space where creativity reigns, a surreal place, characterized by the contrast between dream and reality. Vernissage collections are an invitation to assist to the show of the frozen Nature in its vital tension, an image fading in time, a testimony of the memory of when small things were the most enchanting. Each jewel, each accessory crystallizes into a fragment of this fragile and mysterious universe; a black and white freeze frame of dusty gold filigrees, its spires trapping diamonds, agate, jade, amethyst, fragments of mother of pearl.
The project finds its inspiration in the tension between a dream vision, childlike vitality and the pragmatism of the adult world, in the fascination of animals perennially conserved in their prime in the glass cases of any Natural Science Museum, like portraits of a nostalgic, melancholy nature that got lost in time, creatures from faded 18th-century illustrations of botany and entomology books which survived a natural catastrophe.
Each jewellery collection tells about insects camouflaged between leaves and twigs, deers with white horns stuck in the tentacled branches of the trees, of small flying animals frozen on candid roses as they stopped and drank the morning dew. Diamonds in nuances from grey to black, and the use of pink, yellow burnished silver and gold create a suggestion of ancient times, of lost beauty.
Behind every collection, an intense work of collaborations with artists completes the full meaning of each piece, assembling moods, colours and words like small chapters of a book. Unique pieces, reproducible but never identical: this is the key to make every collection alive.
 Brand profile
Vernissage is produced in Italy according to the traditional rules of high jewellery. The collection is handmade by expert craftsmen who collaborate with one of the leader companies in this sector, Santagostino, belonging to the Corti family.
Vernissage jewels want to highlight the frame of the jewel which is usually hidden. The skeleton on which decorations and stones usually lay is highlighted by a filigree of godronné and burnished gold. Each creation is hand modeled and finely hand carved, down to the cuts and the settings for the stones.
